Reach Cambridge August 2016: Day 9
Though Cathedral and John Connon School students only arrived yesterday, we immediately wanted to show them some of our favourite places in the UK and they joined the rest of the Reach contingent on a trip to Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick Castle. Time and time again, this excursion is always a winner with students – there’s something for everyone, from walking in the footsteps of one of the world’s greatest writers to watching daring displays of medieval weaponry, and from using clues to navigate a historical maze to learning all about the particular personality traits of some very talented birds of prey!
Aside from exploring and learning about new places, the excursions are also a really valuable way for the students to unwind after an intense and challenging academic week. They’re also a great opportunity for the group to make memories with their new friends from around the world: one of my favourite things about Reach is watching a group of strangers meet for the first time and seeing them become the best of friends in just three weeks. With just a week of the program left to go, all of the students are making every moment count!
