  • Remuneration: From £575 per week based on experience.

The Night Warden is responsible for the well-being of our students, to provide a reassuring presence and be on-call overnight.

The Night Warden will be available for the duration of our summer programs and will report to and liaise with the Reach Cambridge Program Directors on any welfare concerns, incidents or support that may be required during the evening and overnight. They will help oversee the pastoral care of our students. They will be a first response to help resolve any immediate welfare or disciplinary issues our students may have, ensuring all rules and regulations of the program are upheld at all times. They will work with the senior team to ensure the smooth running of the summer programs at all times.

The 2024 program dates are:

    • Friday 28th June – Saturday 13th July 2024
    • Friday 12th July – Saturday 27th July 2024
    • Friday 26th July – Saturday 10th August 2024

Please note – there will be compulsory Induction Training in Cambridge during the Friday and Saturday of your first programme (these dates are shown above).  Accommodation for these training days can be arranged if needed. If you have a graduation ceremony scheduled on these days we may be able make alternative arrangements for your on-boarding. Please get in touch if you need to.

Typical working hours are from 8pm – 1am and being on-call overnight for emergencies. We will consider applicants who are available for one, two or all of the programs.

Duties & Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake regular nighttime patrols of the accommodation (various sites in central Cambridge) and surrounding town, with a focus on student support and safety.
  • Manage or report any disturbances or issues to the Program Directors.
  • Carry and manage the overnight emergency phone.
  • Identify any concerns or issues that arise, providing emergency response where needed and then reporting directly to the Program Directors to resolve.
  • Identify and resolve any minor difficulties students may have.
  • Ensure all staff are aware of, and comply with, the welfare guidelines and procedures of Reach Cambridge and offer advice and guidance where they do not.
  • Uphold, protect and promote Reach Cambridge’s core values, protocols and standard operating procedures so that students do the same.
  • Undertake all other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the knowledge, skills and experience of this role as may be requested by the Program Director or one of their nominees.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Previous experience working in a residential setting (Essential)
  • Previous experience working with young people (Essential)
  • Cambridge city, its colleges and history (Highly Desirable)
