Summer 2021: Program 2 - Day 5

Another day of fun awaited our students as they woke up for class this morning! From topics such as Immunology in Biotech and Material Engineering in Physics & Engineering, there was a plethora of interesting and fascinating ideas shared. After lessons, students took advantage of the summer sun by grabbing dinner from the centre of town and eating it in the park – sun cream and water were a must!

Those who wanted to soak up the sun more actively joined us for a few games of tennis and some football on the playing field in the afternoon, whereas those who were feeling ready for even more knowledge engaged in our personal statement workshop. Here, they built on the core concepts they had been introduced to in the evening lecture the night before, in order to plan out their own personal statements and CVs (or resumes in the US!).

After a satisfying evening meal, the students moved into the Auditorium where Genny, our leadership teacher, gave an interactive presentation on Interview Skills. They discussed the theory behind being a good interviewee, including body language, eloquence, and measured speaking, as well as engaging in some practical exercises to improve their confidence in interview situations. Post-lecture, students chose either to sit down and watch a film together with snacks and drinks or to chat and play some card games in the college. The night was filled with much laughter, and it truly feels like the students have made a special, life-changing connection with each other already.
