Program 1: Summer 2018 - Day 16

Botanic Gardens

The sun continues to shine on the Reach Cambridge Summer School! Today the students of Medicine and Life Sciences were treated to a trip to the Botanic Gardens to learn about the production of herbal medicines and the very lucky students of the ESL class were treated to yet another trip to London. The Computer Science and Maths students began their Mathematics classes today by building fractal like Jenga sculptures! Today was the day in which many students began to cash in on their successes at the Charity Auction last week! A spiffing game of croquet with afternoon tea, a fabulous tour of the King’s College roof and a chilled punting tour of the River Cam were but a few fantastic auction promises that were fulfilled today!

Jenga Structure

In the afternoon the students were treated to a Fete of Fun! This included a ping pong ball and spoon race, football tournament and the chance to soak their supervisor using wet sponges! Students were also given the chance to undertake mock interviews for university and job applications. The questions were tough and challenging, they all performed very well under the pressure and should all be very proud of themselves! The lecture this evening followed the same theme as the afternoon and was based on university preparation. This lecture focused on the tools and techniques that will allow for university success in the future, and was delivered by two of our very own supervisors, Josh and Ella! The evening activity was Party Tuesday! Students were treated to Singstar karaoke and Mario Kart and took up the chance to decorate cakes for the Reach tradition that is Sabre Day! Find out more, tomorrow!
