Spring Program: Day 9

What a glorious day it has been! Spring is in full bloom and the atmosphere in Cambridge has been magical. We started our day with breakfast in Reach Hall. We then all walked into town to begin our Treasure Hunt. We split into 4 groups, Red, Yellow, Blue & Green. We were all given a map and a series of clues. The aim was to work through the clues and determine where the treasure was hidden by process of elimination. It was a great way to be able to explore Cambridge in the sunshine, bond with our new arrivals and have some good old-fashioned fun! Monika, who meticulously planned and organised the Treasure Hunt, was on hand to assist anyone who got a bit stuck. After several hours of deciphering clues, riddles and anagrams, Team Blue were declared the winners. Bravo! However, all teams were successful in finding their treasure and devouring the golden chocolate eggs hidden inside!

One of the photo challenges: ‘take a photo of your team jumping; all of you must be mid-air for it to count!’

The group then split into two. Our Week 2 Students joined Emily & Jessica on a punting tour of Cambridge, whilst the students who had already been with us on the river tour headed to King’s College Chapel with David & Sam. Both activities are absolute musts for anyone visiting Cambridge, and it was wonderful to share this experience with the students in the beautiful Spring sunshine. We all headed back to Reach Hall for a led session on Leadership. In this class, students were able to explore different styles of leadership, discuss leaders they admire and identify the qualities of being a great leader. Dinner was served at Pizza Express, housed in the University Pitt Private Members Club, with dough balls galore! We all wandered back to Reach Hall, basking in the warm night air and last rays of evening sun, to take part in one-on-one mock interviews, held by the Reach Cambridge staff. Students were presented with mock university-style interviews, with various role plays and scenarios and feedback at the end. We hope it has built their confidence and taken some of the natural trepidation out of this part of the university admission process. We then called it a night and headed to the Land of Nod, all excited for our subject-specific days tomorrow.
