Reach Cambridge August 2016: Day 8
Today we visited the beautiful city of Oxford. In the morning, the students were split into teams for a scavenger hunt. Challenges included finding Einstein’s blackboard, taking a selfie with a porter and performing a 10 second concert outside the oldest music room in Europe. Everyone was very enthusiastic and took some great photos for the Reach Instagram!
In the afternoon, the students had some free time to shop and re-visit some of the places they had seen on the Scavenger Hunt. They came away with lots of souvenirs, ranging from Harry Potter ‘Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans’ to a wide variety of books from Blackwell’s bookshop.
We returned to Cambridge just in time to catch the last of the sunshine. There were many takers for sport on Downing Paddock, including basketball, football and tennis. Art class was also on offer for those interested in a more relaxed activity.
Lastly, we welcomed Cathedral School from India to Cambridge yesterday! Following an early start, the students were given a tour around Cambridge and went punting along the River Cam in the afternoon. They will attend classes alongside the rest of the students this week. Tomorrow is the penultimate excursion of the program – a visit to Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Warwick Castle.
