Reach Cambridge August 2015: Day 3

Monday marked the start of classes and of the academic program here in Cambridge for the Reach students. The first week entails the Global Leaders program to follow on from the previous evenings lecture. Half of the group undertook a morning session regarding the role of leadership within economics, whilst the others focussed upon community outreach with the Sabre Charitable Trust. Following an intense academic morning, the students were given some respite with the afternoon activities. First up, the interactive quiz! The students formed teams and completed a variety of tasks; from blindfolded sandwich making to mummifying a friend. The final round consisted of a treasure hunt with a twist. Cryptic clues directed the groups across the city to famous landmarks such as Kings College Chapel and Great St. Marys Church. Once here, they took photos for our Instagram competition. The entrants can be found through searching the hashtag #ReachCambridge2015 or visiting https://www.reachcambridge.com/about/instagram. The evenings lecture saw a return to the Global Leaders program. A debating workshop took place where the students could gather key skills and enhance existing talents. Such experience will be crucial to their education ahead and on into their future careers. Many students then took the opportunity to partake in a University question and answer session. Here, they were able to speak to the supervisory team and find out about all aspects of university life, from the application process through to the sporting opportunities available. For those looking to relax ahead of tomorrow’s classes, SingStar was also on offer. Written by Toby, Supervisor
