Residential study programs for 14-18 year olds in Cambridge, UK.
Sabrina remembers her time at Reach in July 2014
In this week’s blog, Sabrina remembers her time during the Reach course in July 2014… Enjoy!
Why not? That’s the question I asked myself before signing up for Reach Cambridge. After this three week experience, I’m glad that I asked.
Each week has been filled with a balance of enriching education and fun activities. The wide variety of classes offered, allowed all one hundred and forty-three participants of Reach to find something that they were interested in. I chose to take the psychology course, which was so fascinating. The classes lasted for four hours every day, providing a complete immersion into the subject within a short amount of time. After class, the students were allowed to have free time to walk around Cambridge.
It was so amazing to feel such a liberating sense of independence. I was apprehensive about being away from home for so long, but the supervisors and other participants made me feel so comfortable and safe. Making international friends from all around the world was my favourite part of Reach. I now have lasting relationships with people I never would have known without this program. It was so fun getting to know them through class, activities, and weekend excursions.
Not only did this program give us a taste of English life, but also of university life. Our living arrangements and the liberal amount of freedom we had let us behave and feel like university students. Now I feel prepared, excited, and enthusiastic about my future. The evening lectures throughout the program also helped me discover more about what I want to do with my life. I can honestly say that some of the lecturers truly inspired me.
All in all, this program is an amazing opportunity that I am so glad to have been a part of. It was an unforgettable trip, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have an eye-opening, life-changing experience!
