Almost half way through!
Although we have been really excited for the long-awaited sports day, alas! the weather unfortunately had truly miserable designs. Despite their disappointment, we were really impressed by and glad for our students’ cheerful reaction and their adaptability. We hope we will be able to reschedule for another time, as it is really a highlight of the program and lot of the students love it. So, we tried to keep the Sports day spirit alive (albeit inside) with a friendly game of Kahoot.
Others decided to have a relaxing afternoon with a lot of arts and crafts: these are always so popular, but we have found that the most popular activity is making friendship bracelets. It’s so nice to see people wearing them around the colleges and people spending time crafting things for their new friends. Others decided to make some postcards – so keep your eyes peeled for these at home! Luckily, we didn’t have to cancel the barbecue because of the weather and so we all tucked into a really delicious feast and everyone had a fantastic time.
All pretty tired from the excursion yesterday, we wanted to make the most of the rainy weather by cosying up with a film for Movie Night. We watched The Truman Show, by popular request. For those that don’t know, The Truman Show, starring the ever-fantastic Jim Carrey, depicts a man who grows up thinking that he has an ordinary life but actually discovers that it is actually a reality TV show. After the film, some students were debating its philosophical implications: it was so nice to see them enthusiastically debating and trying to learn even outside the classroom.
We are all very surprised about how quickly the week is going and can’t believe we are half-way through! We’re also all so excited for our second excursion tomorrow to London to check out the fantastic museums, the Science Museum, the V&A, and the Natural History Museum. Stay tuned for more updates!
And, once again, check out our Instagram and tiktok for photos and videos of our students having fun and learning lots! @reachcambridge
