Today we welcomed a well-deserved lie-in for the students after a busy week of classes and excursions! Students were given free time to enjoy Cambridge city on a saturday. The market was bustling with delicious smelling food, artistic stalls, and lots and lots of people out in the sun! After students enjoyed their own lunch, we went on to register students at 3pm to begin our Reach Cambridge Sports Day! This has always been a huge hit with students and this program was no exception! Games like volleyball, tennis, cricket, football and our classic fancy dress relay race were going on every corner of the Cambridge University sporting grounds – so much choice! We also had a small corner where arts and craft activities like friendship bracelet making and painting were options for those who weren’t interested in sports.
After an exciting afternoon of crafts and running around playing sports, we introduced our very popular BBQ – a perfect ending to a sunny day! Every student ran to the tent to grab a plate filled with food and sit down all together to enjoy the meal. Burgers, hotdogs, chicken and many side dishes were available for students to eat and everything ran out so quickly as students raced to get their fill. Once students finished eating a hearty meal, we made our way back to the colleges to watch a chill film and enjoy the optional poetry workshop at Trinity Hall. I can’t wait to see what poems some of the students came up with! After evening activities and free time, the students departed to bed as we have our London excursion tomorrow to look forward to! Sleep well Reachers, we have an early start tomorrow!
