Another day of engaging classes and exciting activities has officially passed and day 3 of Program 1 is complete! There was a great variety of fun lessons – for example, while students in Philosophy class discussed the meaning of life and the power of perception, the Law class took a field trip to the Magistrates Court. After morning lessons, students had the opportunity to engross themselves in sports and arts & crafts activities at Downing College – parents look forward to some handmade postcards!
After a lively afternoon of British football, basketball and friendship bracelet making in the sunny greens of the Cambridge colleges, students went on to enjoy a hearty meal before the evening lecture began. Katja, our guest lecturer today, gave an enlightening lecture on Emotional Intelligence (EI) which left students with more of an understanding of the science of emotions, as well as how to acknowledge and accept their own emotions. Left with the pertinent quote “Feelings are much like waves, we can’t stop them from coming but we can choose which ones to surf.”, we swiftly moved on to much-anticipated results from our Instravaganza Scavenger Hunt from yesterday. Results ended with Team Ice in the lead by only a few points!
Post-meeting, students chose either a fast-paced Kahoot quiz game with the hopes of evening up the score between fire and ice, or heading back to the colleges after a busy day to chat and have some free time with their friends. The night was filled with much laughter, and it truly feels like the students have made a special, life-changing connection with each other already.
