Reach goes to Lebanon!

Early on a frosty December morning Jenny and Lauren packed their suitcases and made their way across London to Heathrow Airport – to catch a plane to Lebanon! We were very excited to see some past Reach students and meet lots of new people too!

We arrived in Beirut after dark and went straight to our hotel. The next day we explored the city – what a beautiful and interesting place! Beirut is very different to Cambridge – not to mention a few degrees warmer! Although it seemed that we had brought the rain with us from the UK (sorry Lebanon!) but this did not deter us!

That evening we met a bunch of ex-Reach students in a cafe on Hamra Street which was so exciting! It was fantastic to catch up and share memories from the summer, and it made us very happy to hear that lots of the students are still in touch. A huge thank you to everyone who came down to meet us, and for those who couldn’t make it we were sorry to miss you but we hope to catch you next time.

For the rest of the week we were very busy visiting schools and talking to teachers and students about Reach. Hopefully Lebanon will be just as well represented at Reach in summer 2013 as it was in 2012…and you never know maybe this year the footballers will beat the Reach staff team! Get training team Lebanon ;)

Everyone we met was so welcoming and so enthusiastic about Reach. Many had already heard of us from their friends who had attended in previous years, so we would just like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone for spreading the word! We couldn’t do it without you.

We had an amazing time in Lebanon – interesting places, friendly people and delicious food. We hope to be back very soon!
