Program 2: Leader 2017 - Day 1

Today marks the first day of our second Reach Cambridge program – and what a day it turned out to be!

The day started with our students having breakfast in the lovely Butterfield café of Downing College and the awesome dining hall of Trinity Hall, before being escorted by our amazing team of orange-shirted supervisors to their first classes! Our students took part in a vast variety of tasks and courses (some of which are covered in our Instagram story and using the Instagram search #ReachCambridge2017) – ranging from the inoculation experiments in the Biotechnology class to the researching of social experiments in Psychology lessons, and had a very enjoyable time throughout.

After class the students had some free time in the afternoon to get some lunch and explore the wonderful city of Cambridge, before attending their first workshop, centred on Conflict and Negotiation, where our students enjoyed developing their ability to carry out negotiations in a range of different scenarios, and learning what the best strategies are to enable them to get the most out of their negotiations.

After the workshop, our students returned to college for dinner before coming together at Downing College to take part in our SquadBreaker evening activities, where our students teamed up in their month of birth and fought in an extravaganza of physical prowess and quizzical knowledge! They had to guess the match baby photos to our amazing ReachCambridge staff, fish for vegetables in a battle of speed and precision, and race to make as many jam sandwiches whilst blindfolded (One person managed to make an astonishing 7 sandwiches!) In the end Team July prevailed…

All in all, an amazing end to a fun-filled first day at Reach Cambridge, bring on the next two weeks!
